Case Narrative
Columbus Lumber owns and operates a southern yellow pine sawmill operation and procures its own timber, which enables the company to control the quality and availability of wood products while offering mill direct pricing to customers. In addition, Columbus Lumber operates a modern wood pressure treating facility. The sawmill/treatment plan combination allows Columbus Lumber to ship highly mixed truck loads of both treated and white lumber, resale items, plywood, etc. DSI was selected as Trustee of the Ebbers Asset Trust, a trust established to liquidate the personal assets of Bernard J. Ebbers of WorldCom. DSI prepared the ownership interests for sale of Columbus Lumber, which was wholly owned by Ebbers. As part of this process, DSI prepared an offering memorandum, solicited interested parties and conducted a sale process culminating in a successful sale of the company.
