Case Narrative

The creditors’ committee of Reliant Building Products retained DSI to assist its members in the evaluation of the company’s operations and prospects for survival.  Reliant manufactured residential window products across the Sunbelt of the United States up through the Pacific Northwest.  At the time, Reliant was one of the largest ($400 million of revenue) window manufacturers in the country.  Reliant grew from a roll-up strategy based in Dallas, Texas, and sponsored by the Bass brothers.  As happens in some roll-up matters, the synergies did not materialize and the costs spiraled out of control, so the business model did not come to fruition.  DSI assisted the committee to assess the operations, make significant managerial changes and further, a quick sale of the rapidly deteriorating operations.  In this matter, the committee made the best of a bad situation.
