Case Narrative

DSI was hired jointly by the firm and the creditors’ committee to manage the wind down of Heller Ehrman, an international law firm founded in 1890 that once had over 700 attorneys.  As  Financial Advisor, DSI was responsible for the budget associated with the wind down, the evaluation and recommendations regarding incentive bonuses, the analysis of the collectibility of accounts receivable and the development of a  collections protocol recommended to the debtor and the committee. DSI also provided assistance with collection negotiations, advised on malpractice insurance issues, analyzed historical operations in connection with the filing of a preference avoidance action against a major bank, assisted with ongoing discovery related to current and potential future litigation against third parties, analyzed shareholder compensation, assisted with and advised on file transfer and storage issues and negotiated with liquidators to sell all furniture and equipment.
